CROATIA TO HOST BIG CELEBRATION OF YOUTH KARATE
Hundreds of aspiring Karatekas from all over the world are counting the days to live the big event of the year for young Karate athletes: the WKF Youth Training Camp & Karate 1 Youth Cup.
The Croatian city of Umag hosts the ninth edition of the event that gathers young fans of the sport in a celebration of the enthusiasm of youngsters for Karate. The upcoming stars to participate in the anticipated training camp and youth cup will enjoy unforgettable experiences during a thrilling week in which high-level competition, sessions with first-class instructors, and many additional activities are being held to showcase Karate’s relevance among young practitioners.
The event starts on Monday, June 27th with the arrival of the delegations. The first three days will be devoted to the training camp while the WKF Youth Cup is scheduled to being on Friday July 1st. The youngest of the participants will take the stage on Friday while cadet, junior and under-21 categories will star on Saturday and Sunday.
The Youth Camp and Cup are open to Karatekas from 10 to 20 years old. Nearly 700 participants from 34 countries took part in the 2015 edition of the event. While the registration process is still one week to be closed, nearly a thousand aspiring athletes from 53 countries have confirmed their participation in this year’s outstandingly successful event.
The ninth edition of the WKF Youth Training Camp & Karate 1 Youth Cup also has the added appeal of six excellent instructors who will cause a sensation among young Karate fans. The figures of the sport who will impart their extensive knowledge of Karate among the participants of the training camp are world champion Japan’s Rika Usami; world and European Champion Italy’s Luca Valdesi; Karate Star and World and European Champion Rafael Aghayev from Azerbaijan; Brazil’s world and Pan American champion Douglas Brose; World and European Champion Predrag Stojadinov and World and European Champion and chairman of WKF Athletes Commission Davide Benetello.
The main innovation the event with respect to previous editions is the incorporation of new categories for children, so to open the participation in the camp and cup to Karatekas from ten to 13 years-old.
