Pan American Representation Continues on the WKF Executive Committee

On October 13, the Congress of the World Karate Federation (WKF) was held in Bielsko-Biała as part of the 14th World Cadet, Junior and U21 Karate Championships. During the meeting, the members of the new Executive Committee were elected.

Representing the Pan American Karate Federation (PKF), Dr. José García Maañón of Argentina, Ms. Samantha Desciderio of Mexico, and Mr. Craig Vokey of Canada were re-elected. All three had served on the Executive Committee during the previous term.

Ms. Elisa Au also joined the WKF Executive Committee as a co-opted member representing the PKF. Mr. Douglas Brose joined the committee in his capacity as Chairman of the WKF Athletes’ Commission.

This continuity, together with the new appointments, strengthens Pan American representation within the WKF’s main governing body and ensures that the perspectives and priorities of karate in the Americas remain part of the decisions that will guide the sport’s development worldwide. It also provides a foundation for maintaining dialogue and cooperation between the continent’s national federations and the international organization.

For the PKF, the re-election of its representatives reflects support for the work accomplished and offers an opportunity to continue advancing the growth of karate in the Americas. Their participation in this body can help promote further opportunities for athletes, officials and federations, while strengthening the region’s international presence.

During the Congress, representatives from more than 90 countries reviewed administrative and sporting matters and ratified the host cities for major events in 2027 and 2028. The WKF highlighted unity and cooperation within the international community as key elements for continued progress.
